There are 3 steps to permanent weight loss.

 

Step 1

The first step is understanding your relationship with food.......

If you are overweight chances are you use food as a coping mechanism.

 

Step 2

This step involves learning about nutrition, portion control and various ways to expend more energy through exercise and incidentals.  Get Psyched offers nutritional and exercise guidelines only as its main focus is empowering you to understand why you use food as a coping mechanism.  Chances are most of you already know what eating "healthy" means and have tried all sorts of dietary plans, yet still struggle with weight.

Step 3

This step is about SUPPORT so you have access to support should you need to re-assess what you've learned or just feel a sense of accountability.

Most programs offer only stage 2.  If you join a program, or do that latest lemon diet, shakes, or boot camp, in order to lose weight quickly.... chances are you will gain all and more back.

Relapse rate are in the high 90%

Recently Kirsty Allen was on Oprah explaining why she gained not just all of her 80lb's weight loss, but all and more!

She said "After being spoke person for Jenny Craig for 3 years, I stopped .... once I stopped... I gained it all back!"

Then when asked what her next goal is, she said "To get into a bikini"

Where is she going wrong here?

2 Points:

1.  Kirsty became dependent on a system rather than having the tools for herself.

2. Kirsty's focus on losing to get into a bikini doesn't work for the long-term because it has a time frame.Once you get into that swim suit, or wedding dress ...then what?

3. Kirstie didn't confront and deal with the undeying causes of what aspect of herself she wasn't nourishing.So since the problems were still there the coping style of choice, food, was what she went right back to.
